2015 has proven to be a year needing a laugh track. Why is for the novel to come (a title is all I have thus far: These wrinkles are your fault ) but a laugh-a-day is cheaper than my favourite wine. And yes, the cookbook is almost done. Just about now, I will do anything to sustain me on the last leg of the Christmas marathon.
Amy should have come to my street.
Poehler has my vote for Smart Ass We Love Best. Then again you know that already if you’ve been hanging around here.
A few night ago, I sat in a movie house row of nine friends and family who share an inclination to laugh at life’s absurdities. We were there on the opening weekend of Sisters and it didn’t disappoint. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey together are cracker jack. It’s junk food and we gobbled it up greedily, guffawing down the line in syncopation. Fey and Poehler are sisters mourning the Sold sign on their childhood home and decide to have one last blow-out bash. The two comic powerhouse steer sharply away from rosy nostalgia and offer choice morsels of coarse comedy. Much of it was dumb and dumber but the Tina and Amy show can sell even the weakest script, one stuffed with just enough dirt to earn an R rating. Have we seen this movie before? A house party gone off the rails? Of course, and that part of the film was just…meh. I wanted more of Tina and Amy reuniting and reading the funny bits from their teenage diaries. Pure gold. I’m thinking now I should send them mine. Now there’s comedy.
Everyone else was at that other movie out this weekend. We were there for cheap laughs without any Christmas wrapping.
And just because it is Christmas ( two day left, suckers. Get out there and shop), I’m going to let you hang around the cosy comedy parlour for another minute or two with this gem from Jimmy Fallon.
I’ll have one more recipe for you before Santa comes. So you better
watch out come back and hang with me here tomorrow.
