What are your rituals as a couple? Do you have something that is just yours alone? Readers, you’ve already had your chocolate and trippy language.
Now I’m serving up some inspiration from a few of the couples who responded to my query about their romantic habits. And for those of you who said no, I still love you. Turns out you’re shy. Who knew? Take that, pundits pontificating on the oversharing nation. My peeps like to keep their tricks to themselves. Secrecy is cool- I get it. When my husband and I first started dating, we were in a musical together and kept it a secret for a spell from the cast and everyone else at our respective high schools. Sneaking around is hot, especially if you’re in the school boiler room. I’m with you.
Then there were these responses.
I have no rituals.
We don’t do anything special.
Our idea of romance is horror movies on Valentine’s Day. ( I like that one the best. Old school comfort after the scream.)
NO RITUALS? Do you hear that? That’s the sound of me throwing shade at you. I don’t believe you. We all have them. You just don’t recognize them as such.
For Julia and Halley, their ritual involves a trip to a Toronto steakhouse. Janet and Bill have three grown kids and might just be mistaken for them. Wendy and Andrew find reasons (and new locations) to recreate their first kiss. Hollie and Alexandra have a new kitchen and believe it’s as good a place as any to bust a move.
Here’s some inspiration in a special Valentine’s edition of Love and Sugar Asks…
