Get outside for a picnic? I’m with you. But author Jen Kirkman is clearly not on our team.
In an essay, charmingly titled Picnics Can Go FK Themselves, Kirkman suggests picnics are the springtime version of clichéd gestures, like buying someone a car for Christmas or getting engaged on Valentine’s Day.

Perhaps we have cinema to blame, and Julie Andrews, although there were no picnics included in the price of my Sound of Music tour last summer.
I think the author just needs a little imagination and a better view. Maybe forget the grass altogether.
